Chevin Lodge 6848
At the end of the second world war (1939-1945) the interest of gentlemen seeking admission to our Order was high.
The outcome was that on 1 January 1949 W. Bro Sandy Lamb of Royal Wharefedale Lodge 1108, submitted a petition for a new lodge to be formed, this was duly signed by the required minimum number of 20 founding members, to the Provincial Grand Master.
The petition was approved on condition that the new lodge would cater for candidates within the Otley, Airedale and closely surrounding areas.
Several names where considered for the new lodge and Chevin was selected for approval of the Provincial Grand Master who gave his approval.
The new Chevin Lodge would be located in the Masonic Rooms in Boroughgate Otley. These room were not considered large enough to host the consecration and this would be held at the Castle Grove Masonic Hall at Headingley on Thursday 20th May 1949 which was attended by 164 brethren.
